Job Description

As an optical sales associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and expert advice on our wide selection of eyewear products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion and a strong knowledge of current trends. They will be able to use their style expertise to help customers find the perfect pair of glasses or sunglasses to suit their needs. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stock room.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Assist customers with the selection of eyewear based on individual needs
  • Dispense and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, making necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and comfort
  • Educate patients on how to care for their new eyewear
  • Perform basic office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records
  • Keep abreast of new products and services, and be able to effectively communicate these offerings to customers
  • Understand and follow insurance guidelines and billing procedures
  • Upsell additional products and services when appropriate
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and work area
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Attend training sessions and continuing education courses as needed
  • Foster a positive and cooperative team environment

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven customer service experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and sales skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
  • Basic math skills

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Previous optical sales experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of optometric software
