Job Description
Optometrist responsibilities include analyzing vision tests, identifying sight problems, and prescribing corrective lenses and eyeglasses. To be successful in this role, you should have attention to detail and be able to treat all kinds of patients with kindness and discretion, from young children to the elderly.

To qualify for this role, you must be state-licensed, or in the process of obtaining your license, and possess in-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders, conditions, and treatment. The ideal candidate will be customer service-oriented with excellent analytical and communication skills.
This job requires candidates to be able to perform duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide both pre- and post-operative optometric care to laser vision correction patients
  • Provide eye examinations and office visit consultations as required
  • Provide general optometric care to cataract patients and/or other ophthalmic surgery patients.
  • Evaluate patients for LASIK or other refractive surgery
  • Make recommendations as to treatment options to the ophthalmologist
  • Work together with the ophthalmologist so as to achieve the best possible outcomes for all patients
  • Document history including complaint and relevant symptoms, ocular health, medication usage, medical and family history, current vision aide if applicable, and any other pertinent data
  • Examine eyes using observation, pharmaceutical agents, and instruments to determine visual perception, acuity, coordination, and focus.
  • Based on the exam, diagnose diseases and anomalies
  • Clearly document diagnosis and treatment plan, including referrals, therapeutic prescriptions, and long-term medical management, in patients’ charts
  • Handle eyecare emergencies in the most appropriate manner for each situation
  • Build strong doctor-patient relationships
  • Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques
  • Maintain accurate medical files for all patients
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records and protected health information as per HIPAA and compliance laws


Position Requirements
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree.
Must possess a state-issued license for the practice of optometry.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders and conditions.
Patient service-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
